Nate Williams 990296e89d - Fix braino I did when hand-applying the patch to 1.7.4.4. The braino
shouldn't negatively affect anything, since I didn't remove a line
from the original patch which assigned to a variable. However, the new
patch added a line (after some comments) which assigned a value to the
same variable, so the end result was I left in extra code that did
  nothing.

revision 1.42
date: 1996/11/13 18:31:57; author: bde; state: Exp; lines: +28 -17
Don't fiddle with RTS if RTS flow control is off. This gives applications
almost complete control over RTS (control of its initial value is still
missing).

This fixes PR 1644 for sio.

The author of PR 1644 wants it in 2.1.6 and 2.2. This may be safe since
the complications are only in rarely used cases that I hope I've covered.

to fill in the nfs_diskless structure, at the cost of some kernel

network adapters than netboot. Several new kernel options are
documented in LINT.

1997-02-18 19:53:23 +00:00
Justin T. Gibbs 54eacce011 Enlarge the message out buffer from 6 to 8 bytes. Now that sync and wide
negotiation messages may be tagged, we were overrunning the old buffer.
The variable that was getting squashed is updated before the message goes
out, causing corrupted SDTR or WDTR messages. Depending on the phases
traversed before message out, this could cause the wrong offset to be
negotiated allowing data overruns to occur. The problem is easier to
detect with wide targets on the chain since the allowed offset is smaller.

Also removed the unnecessary clearing of SPIORDY during the message out
phase. We don't rely on SPIORDY any more.

Joe Greco aa1af3afc4 Fix an exploitable buffer overflow condition. From l0pht:
Modstat is sgid kmem which is really handy to become if you feel like
looking through /dev/mem and /dev/kmem (gee, wonder what you might
want to do that for ). Like just about everything else under the sun
it has a buffer overflow problem. The problem exists in the dostat()
routine where an arbitrary sized string is shoved into sbuf.name
through a strcpy().

This change was committed to 2.2 as rev. 1.4 of modstat.c by joerg, and is
being duplicated verbatim in 2.1-STABLE -JG

Jordan K. Hubbard a42a785e4d [I'm still at COMDEX, but this is an easy commit]
David and I talked for quite awhile today about how to differentiate
2.1.6 from the "service patched" 2.1.6, and while the packaging
can and should stay the same, we still need to know version information
in bug reports. I'm therefore bumping the version to 2.1.6.1, though
I hope we won't need to refer to it often as such since the 2.1.6 CD will
be, in fact, 2.1.6.1 and I intend to also replace the FTP release with it.
2.1.6a and 2.1.7 were also debated and rejected. This version number
is the only one we've precedent for (1.1.5.1).

3COM 3C900 Etherlink XL PCI and
3COM 3C905 Fast Etherlink XL PCI.

This driver is based on OpenBSD's driver. I modified it to run under FreeBSd
and made it actually work usefully.
Afterwards, [email protected] (HAMADA Naoki) added EISA support as well as
early support for 3C900 Etherlink XL PCI and 3C905 Fast Etherlink XL PCI.
He also split up the driver in a bus independant and bus dependant parts.

Especially the 3c59X support should be pretty stable now.
