net/packet: call packet_parse_headers after virtio_net_hdr_to_skb
SOCK_RAW packet sockets incorrectly drop VLAN-tagged GSO packets without VIRTIO_NET_HDR_F_NEEDS_CSUM. packet_parse_headers() sets skb->protocol to VLAN but advances skb->network_header past the VLAN tags. virtio_net_hdr_to_skb() then flow dissects these packets, which parses the network header as a VLAN tag, and fails. Call packet_parse_headers() after virtio_net_hdr_to_skb() instead. This matches tun_get_user() and tap_get_user() and thus simplifies overall complexity. Commit |

net/packet: guard the ll header push in packet_rcv_spkt()
packet_rcv_spkt() restores the link layer header with skb_push(skb, skb->data - skb_mac_header(skb)); That subtraction is only meaningful when the device actually has a link layer header. packet_rcv() and tpacket_rcv() both wrap it in dev_has_header(), which is also the predicate the block comment at the top of the file states the restore in terms of; packet_rcv_spkt() does not. commit |

net/packet: prevent TX_RING byte count overflow
tpacket_snd() drains every SEND_REQUEST frame in a TX ring and adds
each valid packet length to the signed int len_sum. Userspace can
recycle completed frames concurrently, so a single blocking send call
is not bounded by the ring size.
After enough successful transmissions len_sum wraps into the negative
range. In particular, 65536 65535-byte frames followed by a 65007-byte
frame produce 0xfffffdef, or -EIOCBQUEUED. sock_sendmsg_nosec() treats
that as an impossible return and triggers a BUG. On systems configured
to panic on oops, a CAP_NET_RAW holder can panic the host kernel.
Stop before the next frame would make the byte count exceed INT_MAX.
The positive short count leaves that frame pending for a later send
call.
A two-thread TPACKET_V2 reproducer triggered the BUG on an arm64 build
of Linux 7.3-rc4. With this change, the same reproducer returned the
expected positive short count without an oops.

af_packet: fix integer overflow in prb_calc_retire_blk_tmo()
prb_calc_retire_blk_tmo() computes in 32-bit int arithmetic:
mbits = (blk_size_in_bytes * 8) / (1024 * 1024);
If I'm reading the validation right, tp_block_size is user
controlled and packet_set_ring() only rejects values that are <= 0
as int or not page aligned, so a 256MiB block goes right through
(and alloc_one_pg_vec_page() even has a vzalloc fallback for it).
0x10000000 * 8 wraps to INT_MIN, and on a NIC reporting 1 Gbps
(div == 1) the function ends up returning -2047.
The condition is actually (8 * size) mod 2^32 >= 2^31 && div == 1,
so the trigger set is [256,512), [768,1024), [1280,1536) and
[1792,2048) MiB. Other sizes wrap to non-negative values and faster
links divide the unsigned value back below 2^31, which is why this
doesn't blow up for everyone.
What makes it fatal is what happens next in init_prb_bdqc():
p1->interval_ktime = ms_to_ktime(prb_calc_retire_blk_tmo(...));
hrtimer_start(&p1->retire_blk_timer, p1->interval_ktime,
HRTIMER_MODE_REL_SOFT);
A negative relative timeout expires immediately. The callback
unconditionally returns HRTIMER_RESTART, and hrtimer_forward() turns
the negative interval into hrtimer_resolution:
if (interval < hrtimer_resolution)
interval = hrtimer_resolution;
So the SOFT timer re-fires at the maximum rate forever, holding
sk_receive_queue.lock each pass. One CPU spins in softirq until the
socket is closed. Repeat with more rings and the machine is gone.
The overflow itself is ancient - it was introduced together with

packet: use ubuf_info completion for TX_RING packets
tpacket_snd sends skbs with frags pointing into its ring slots. Slots are released when skb->destructor is called. A call to skb_orphan calls skb->destructor before the skb is freed. This can cause the slot to be reused while still linked into the skb. Switch to standard zerocopy completion (ubuf_info) so the slot is only released once all references to the payload are freed or copied. Restore skb->destructor to standard sock_wfree. The ubuf_info completion callback can be called with a NULL skb, but only from net_zcopy_put and related API, used by zerocopy implementations that hold their own reference on the uarg, such as MSG_ZEROCOPY. This uarg is only ever completed from skb_zcopy_clear, so skb is always set. To prevent userspace from aliasing in-flight state on shared ring slots, allocate tpacket_uarg per packet, rather than per slot. This adds a small allocation to the transmit path. Use standard kmalloc to allow backporting to stable kernels. The uarg holds an sk_wmem_alloc reference, rather than an sk_refcnt reference. packet_free_tx_ring waits on sk_wmem_alloc before freeing the ring pages. Always allocate vec->deferred for tx_ring so page-backed rings also wait on sk_wmem_alloc when skb_copy_ubufs drops page refs before calling tpacket_ubuf_complete. Drop the tx_ring.pg_vec test that tpacket_destruct_skb performed before accessing the slot. The sk_wmem_alloc reference now guarantees that the slot is valid. The test is also not sufficient by itself, as it reads pg_vec without pg_vec_lock, so it can race with packet_set_ring. As a result a slot is released when its payload is copied, which can be before transmission (e.g., in skb_orphan_frags_rx). If copied before skb_tx_timestamp() is called, no slot timestamp is recorded, similar to when skb_orphan() was called early in the datapath before this patch. Revert the now unused previous skb_zcopy_.._nouarg infra. Depends on commit |

af_packet: Don't cast tpacket_hdr.tp_len to int in tpacket_parse_header().
syzbot reported BUG() in sock_sendmsg_nosec(). [0]
The problem is that tpacket_parse_header() casts user-provided
tpacket_hdr.tp_len, which is u32, to int.
If the length is larger than INT_MAX, the following condition
in tpacket_parse_header() passes,
if (unlikely(tp_len > size_max))
and any negative value can be returned to the caller, up to
sock_sendmsg_nosec().
The repro set tpacket_hdr.tp_len to 0xfffffdef, which is cast
to -EIOCBQUEUED (-529), triggering BUG() in sock_sendmsg_nosec().
*(uint64_t*)0x200000000008 = 0xfffffdef;
...
syscall(__NR_write, /*fd=*/r[0], /*buf=*/0x200000000000ul, /*count=*/1ul);
Let's define the local tp_len as u32 in tpacket_parse_header().

net/packet: defer vmalloc TX_RING free until skbs finish
AF_PACKET TX_RING skbs keep a raw pointer to their ring frame. The skb
page references preserve page-backed ring blocks after pg_vec is freed,
but they do not preserve a vmalloc mapping.
tpacket_destruct_skb() currently drops the pending reference before
writing the timestamp and TP_STATUS_AVAILABLE to the frame. Move the
decrement after those stores. The smp_wmb() in __packet_set_status()
orders the frame stores before the decrement.
Also recheck pending TX frames under pg_vec_lock before non-closing
ring replacement, so a racing send cannot add a pending skb between
the initial check and the ring swap.
Ring allocation can produce a mixture of page-backed and vmalloc-backed
blocks. Allocate deferred-work storage during TX ring setup when the
first vmalloc-backed block is encountered, and keep its pointer in the
pg_vec allocation header. If allocation fails, return -ENOMEM from ring
setup. On socket close, a non-NULL pointer identifies a vmalloc-backed
vector without a scan. If TX skbs remain, defer the whole vector to
system_long_wq.
After pg_vec is detached, a late destructor can skip the pending
decrement. Use socket write-memory accounting as the deferred lifetime
gate instead: an skb remains charged through its final sock_wfree(),
after all ring-frame accesses. The delayed work retains a socket
reference and reschedules itself until no TX skbs remain.
Move pending_refcnt release to packet_sock_destruct() so late skb
destructors and deferred cleanup can safely use it after
packet_release(). Page-backed teardown remains synchronous, and no lock
is added to the TX completion hot path.

net: packet: fix wrong transport_header when sending VLAN-tagged frame
In packet_parse_headers(), when processing a VLAN-tagged frame,
skb_set_network_header() is called to advance network_header past the
VLAN tag to the inner protocol header. skb_probe_transport_header() is
then called with skb->protocol still set to the outer VLAN EtherType
(e.g. ETH_P_8021Q), while nhoff (derived from skb_network_offset())
already points past the VLAN tag to the inner protocol header.
In __skb_flow_dissect(), proto is initialized to ETH_P_8021Q and nhoff
points past the VLAN tag. When the dissector hits case ETH_P_8021Q, it
reads a struct vlan_hdr at nhoff via __skb_header_pointer(), but that
offset contains the inner protocol header (e.g. an IP header). The bytes
are misinterpreted as a VLAN header, yielding a garbage encapsulated
EtherType that matches no known protocol. The dissector returns false,
so skb_probe_transport_header() never calls skb_set_transport_header(),
leaving transport_header at its uninitialized sentinel value (~0U).
Move skb_probe_transport_header() to before skb_set_network_header(). At
the time skb_probe_transport_header() is called, network_header still
points to the VLAN header, so nhoff correctly points to the VLAN header.
The flow dissector can then parse the VLAN header, extract the inner
EtherType, and advance nhoff to the inner protocol header, allowing
transport_header to be set correctly.

packet: use consistent hard_header_len in TX_RING send path
tpacket_snd() reads dev->hard_header_len independently for skb
allocation and header construction in tpacket_fill_skb(). Concurrent
netdevice reconfiguration can therefore make the reserved headroom
smaller than the amount later pushed, or make copylen - hard_header_len
negative.
Snapshot hard_header_len once before processing ring frames and use it
for the frame limit, headroom allocation, copy length, and skb
construction. Pass the snapshot to tpacket_fill_skb().
The separate SOCK_DGRAM consistency problem between hard_header_len and
header_ops->create is not addressed here.

packet: use consistent hard_header_len in non-ring send paths
packet_snd() reads dev->hard_header_len multiple times while allocating
and constructing an skb. Device reconfiguration can change this value
concurrently, for example through bonding device type changes.
For SOCK_RAW, packet_snd() can save a larger value in reserve and later
allocate headroom using a smaller value. Moving skb->data back by reserve
then places it before skb->head, and the following copy from userspace can
attempt an out-of-bounds write.
packet_sendmsg_spkt() has the same issue because it calculates its
reservation and header offset from separate reads before dropping the RCU
read lock to allocate the skb.
Add LL_RESERVED_SPACE_EX() for callers that already saved a header length.
Read hard_header_len once in packet_snd() and use it for allocation and
construction. In packet_sendmsg_spkt(), preserve the allocation-time value
through the device lookup retry.
The separate SOCK_DGRAM consistency problem between hard_header_len and
header_ops->create is not addressed here.

packet: synchronize pressure clearing with ring reconfiguration
packet_set_ring() updates the RX ring state under sk_receive_queue.lock,
but used to publish the tpacket receive mode through po->prot_hook.func
after releasing that lock. packet_poll() and packet_recvmsg() can then
run the pressure clearing path after the ring has been cleared while
still seeing tpacket_rcv, causing __packet_rcv_has_room() to dereference
stale or NULL ring storage.
Move the existing receive hook assignment into the same
sk_receive_queue.lock section as the ring state update. Keep the
assignment otherwise unchanged, including on TX ring reconfiguration, to
avoid adding behavior changes that are not required for the fix.
Serialize packet_recvmsg() pressure clearing with the same queue lock
only after PACKET_SOCK_PRESSURE has been observed. If the flag is clear
and the socket has moved away from tpacket_rcv, packet_set_ring() has
already detached the socket and waited for synchronize_net(), so no new
packet input can set the flag again.
packet_poll() already holds sk_receive_queue.lock, so it uses the new
unlocked helper directly.

net/packet: reset the MAC header on the packet-socket transmit path
packet_parse_headers() resets the MAC header only for a SOCK_RAW frame whose socket did not bind a protocol. A protocol-bound SOCK_RAW socket, any SOCK_DGRAM frame, and the legacy SOCK_PACKET path therefore leave skb->mac_header unset here. For frames sent via __dev_queue_xmit() this is harmless: it resets the MAC header unconditionally. But the packet-socket PACKET_QDISC_BYPASS path uses dev_direct_xmit(), which does not, so the frame reaches ndo_start_xmit() with the MAC header unset. A driver that reads eth_hdr(skb) on transmit then dereferences skb->head + (u16)~0, an out-of-bounds access ~64 KiB past the head -- the same class fixed for one consumer in commit |

net/packet: avoid fanout hook re-registration after unregister
packet_set_ring() temporarily detaches a socket from packet delivery while
reconfiguring its ring. It records the previous running state, clears
po->num, unregisters the protocol hook when needed, drops po->bind_lock,
and later restores po->num and re-registers the hook from the saved
was_running value.
That unlocked window can race with NETDEV_UNREGISTER. The notifier can
observe the socket as not running, skip __unregister_prot_hook(), and
invalidate the per-socket binding by setting po->ifindex to -1 and clearing
po->prot_hook.dev. A one-member fanout group can still retain its shared
fanout hook device pointer. When packet_set_ring() resumes, re-registering
solely from the stale was_running state can re-add the fanout hook after
the device has been unregistered.
Treat po->ifindex == -1 as an invalidated binding after reacquiring
po->bind_lock. This is distinct from ifindex 0, the normal
unbound/wildcard state: ifindex -1 marks an existing device binding that
was invalidated when the device was unregistered. Restore po->num as
before, but do not re-register the hook if device unregister already
detached the socket.

net/packet: fix TOCTOU race on mmap'd vnet_hdr in tpacket_snd()
In tpacket_snd(), when PACKET_VNET_HDR is enabled, vnet_hdr points
directly into the mmap'd TX ring buffer shared with userspace. The
kernel validates the header via __packet_snd_vnet_parse() but then
re-reads all fields later in virtio_net_hdr_to_skb(). A concurrent
userspace thread can modify the vnet_hdr fields between validation
and use, bypassing all safety checks.
The non-TPACKET path (packet_snd()) already correctly copies vnet_hdr
to a stack-local variable. All other vnet_hdr consumers in the kernel
(tun.c, tap.c, virtio_net.c) also use stack copies. The TPACKET TX
path is the only caller of virtio_net_hdr_to_skb() that reads directly
from user-controlled shared memory.
Fix this by copying vnet_hdr from the mmap'd ring buffer to a
stack-local variable before validation and use, consistent with the
approach used in packet_snd() and all other callers.

af_packet: convert to getsockopt_iter
Convert AF_PACKET's getsockopt implementation to use the new getsockopt_iter callback with sockopt_t. Key changes: - Replace (char __user *optval, int __user *optlen) with sockopt_t *opt - Use opt->optlen for buffer length (input) and returned size (output) - Use copy_to_iter() instead of put_user()/copy_to_user() - For PACKET_HDRLEN which reads from optval: use opt->iter_in with copy_from_iter() for the input read, then the common opt->iter_out copy_to_iter() epilogue handles the output Signed-off-by: Breno Leitao <[email protected]> Acked-by: Stanislav Fomichev <[email protected]> Link: https://patch.msgid.link/[email protected] Signed-off-by: Jakub Kicinski <[email protected]> |

Merge tag 'vfs-7.1-rc1.kino' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/vfs/vfs
Pull vfs i_ino updates from Christian Brauner: "For historical reasons, the inode->i_ino field is an unsigned long, which means that it's 32 bits on 32 bit architectures. This has caused a number of filesystems to implement hacks to hash a 64-bit identifier into a 32-bit field, and deprives us of a universal identifier field for an inode. This changes the inode->i_ino field from an unsigned long to a u64. This shouldn't make any material difference on 64-bit hosts, but 32-bit hosts will see struct inode grow by at least 4 bytes. This could have effects on slabcache sizes and field alignment. The bulk of the changes are to format strings and tracepoints, since the kernel itself doesn't care that much about the i_ino field. The first patch changes some vfs function arguments, so check that one out carefully. With this change, we may be able to shrink some inode structures. For instance, struct nfs_inode has a fileid field that holds the 64-bit inode number. With this set of changes, that field could be eliminated. I'd rather leave that sort of cleanups for later just to keep this simple" * tag 'vfs-7.1-rc1.kino' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/vfs/vfs: nilfs2: fix 64-bit division operations in nilfs_bmap_find_target_in_group() EVM: add comment describing why ino field is still unsigned long vfs: remove externs from fs.h on functions modified by i_ino widening treewide: fix missed i_ino format specifier conversions ext4: fix signed format specifier in ext4_load_inode trace event treewide: change inode->i_ino from unsigned long to u64 nilfs2: widen trace event i_ino fields to u64 f2fs: widen trace event i_ino fields to u64 ext4: widen trace event i_ino fields to u64 zonefs: widen trace event i_ino fields to u64 hugetlbfs: widen trace event i_ino fields to u64 ext2: widen trace event i_ino fields to u64 cachefiles: widen trace event i_ino fields to u64 vfs: widen trace event i_ino fields to u64 net: change sock.sk_ino and sock_i_ino() to u64 audit: widen ino fields to u64 vfs: widen inode hash/lookup functions to u64 |

net: fix fanout UAF in packet_release() via NETDEV_UP race
`packet_release()` has a race window where `NETDEV_UP` can re-register a
socket into a fanout group's `arr[]` array. The re-registration is not
cleaned up by `fanout_release()`, leaving a dangling pointer in the fanout
array.
`packet_release()` does NOT zero `po->num` in its `bind_lock` section.
After releasing `bind_lock`, `po->num` is still non-zero and `po->ifindex`
still matches the bound device. A concurrent `packet_notifier(NETDEV_UP)`
that already found the socket in `sklist` can re-register the hook.
For fanout sockets, this re-registration calls `__fanout_link(sk, po)`
which adds the socket back into `f->arr[]` and increments `f->num_members`,
but does NOT increment `f->sk_ref`.
The fix sets `po->num` to zero in `packet_release` while `bind_lock` is
held to prevent NETDEV_UP from linking, preventing the race window.
This bug was found following an additional audit with Claude Code based
on CVE-2025-38617.

net: change sock.sk_ino and sock_i_ino() to u64
inode->i_ino is being converted to a u64. sock.sk_ino (which caches the inode number) must also be widened to avoid truncation on 32-bit architectures where unsigned long is only 32 bits. Change sk_ino from unsigned long to u64, and update the return type of sock_i_ino() to match. Fix all format strings that print the result of sock_i_ino() (%lu -> %llu), and widen the intermediate variables and function parameters in the diag modules that were using int to hold the inode number. Note that the UAPI socket diag structures (inet_diag_msg.idiag_inode, unix_diag_msg.udiag_ino, etc.) are all __u32 and cannot be changed without breaking the ABI. The assignments to those fields will silently truncate, which is the existing behavior. Convert more 'alloc_obj' cases to default GFP_KERNEL arguments
This converts some of the visually simpler cases that have been split over multiple lines. I only did the ones that are easy to verify the resulting diff by having just that final GFP_KERNEL argument on the next line. Somebody should probably do a proper coccinelle script for this, but for me the trivial script actually resulted in an assertion failure in the middle of the script. I probably had made it a bit _too_ trivial. So after fighting that far a while I decided to just do some of the syntactically simpler cases with variations of the previous 'sed' scripts. The more syntactically complex multi-line cases would mostly really want whitespace cleanup anyway. Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <[email protected]> |

Convert 'alloc_obj' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argument
This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using
git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'
to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.
Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.
For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...) net: af_packet: Use hrtimer to do the retire operation
In a system with high real-time requirements, the timeout mechanism of ordinary timers with jiffies granularity is insufficient to meet the demands for real-time performance. Meanwhile, the optimization of CPU usage with af_packet is quite significant. Use hrtimer instead of timer to help compensate for the shortcomings in real-time performance. In HZ=100 or HZ=250 system, the update of TP_STATUS_USER is not real-time enough, with fluctuations reaching over 8ms (on a system with HZ=250). This is unacceptable in some high real-time systems that require timely processing of network packets. By replacing it with hrtimer, if a timeout of 2ms is set, the update of TP_STATUS_USER can be stabilized to within 3 ms. Delete delete_blk_timer field, because hrtimer_cancel will check and wait until the timer callback return and ensure never enter callback again. Simplify the logic related to setting timeout, only update the hrtimer expire time within the hrtimer callback, no longer update the expire time in prb_open_block which is called by tpacket_rcv or timer callback. Reasons why NOT update hrtimer in prb_open_block: 1) It will increase complexity to distinguish the two caller scenario. 2) hrtimer_cancel and hrtimer_start need to be called if you want to update TMO of an already enqueued hrtimer, leading to complex shutdown logic. One side effect of NOT update hrtimer when called by tpacket_rcv is that a newly opened block triggered by tpacket_rcv may be retired earlier than expected. On the other hand, if timeout is updated in prb_open_block, the frequent reception of network packets that leads to prb_open_block being called may cause hrtimer to be removed and enqueued repeatedly. The retire hrtimer expiration is unconditional and periodic. If there are numerous packet sockets on the system, please set an appropriate timeout to avoid frequent enqueueing of hrtimers. net: af_packet: remove last_kactive_blk_num field
kactive_blk_num (K) is only incremented on block close. In timer callback prb_retire_rx_blk_timer_expired, except delete_blk_timer is true, last_kactive_blk_num (L) is set to match kactive_blk_num (K) in all cases. L is also set to match K in prb_open_block. The only case K not equal to L is when scheduled by tpacket_rcv and K is just incremented on block close but no new block could be opened, so that it does not call prb_open_block in prb_dispatch_next_block. This patch modifies the prb_retire_rx_blk_timer_expired function by simply removing the check for L == K. This patch just provides another checkpoint to thaw the might-be-frozen block in any case. It doesn't have any effect because __packet_lookup_frame_in_block() has the same logic and does it again without this patch when detecting the ring is frozen. The patch only advances checking the status of the ring. af_packet: fix soft lockup issue caused by tpacket_snd()
When MSG_DONTWAIT is not set, the tpacket_snd operation will wait for
pending_refcnt to decrement to zero before returning. The pending_refcnt
is decremented by 1 when the skb->destructor function is called,
indicating that the skb has been successfully sent and needs to be
destroyed.
If an error occurs during this process, the tpacket_snd() function will
exit and return error, but pending_refcnt may not yet have decremented to
zero. Assuming the next send operation is executed immediately, but there
are no available frames to be sent in tx_ring (i.e., packet_current_frame
returns NULL), and skb is also NULL, the function will not execute
wait_for_completion_interruptible_timeout() to yield the CPU. Instead, it
will enter a do-while loop, waiting for pending_refcnt to be zero. Even
if the previous skb has completed transmission, the skb->destructor
function can only be invoked in the ksoftirqd thread (assuming NAPI
threading is enabled). When both the ksoftirqd thread and the tpacket_snd
operation happen to run on the same CPU, and the CPU trapped in the
do-while loop without yielding, the ksoftirqd thread will not get
scheduled to run. As a result, pending_refcnt will never be reduced to
zero, and the do-while loop cannot exit, eventually leading to a CPU soft
lockup issue.
In fact, skb is true for all but the first iterations of that loop, and
as long as pending_refcnt is not zero, even if incremented by a previous
call, wait_for_completion_interruptible_timeout() should be executed to
yield the CPU, allowing the ksoftirqd thread to be scheduled. Therefore,
the execution condition of this function should be modified to check if
pending_refcnt is not zero, instead of check skb.
- if (need_wait && skb) {
+ if (need_wait && packet_read_pending(&po->tx_ring)) {
As a result, the judgment conditions are duplicated with the end code of
the while loop, and packet_read_pending() is a very expensive function.
Actually, this loop can only exit when ph is NULL, so the loop condition
can be changed to while (1), and in the "ph = NULL" branch, if the
subsequent condition of if is not met, the loop can break directly. Now,
the loop logic remains the same as origin but is clearer and more obvious.

af_packet: fix vlan_get_tci() vs MSG_PEEK
Blamed commit forgot MSG_PEEK case, allowing a crash [1] as found
by syzbot.
Rework vlan_get_tci() to not touch skb at all,
so that it can be used from many cpus on the same skb.
Add a const qualifier to skb argument.

sock: support SO_PRIORITY cmsg
The Linux socket API currently allows setting SO_PRIORITY at the socket level, applying a uniform priority to all packets sent through that socket. The exception to this is IP_TOS, when the priority value is calculated during the handling of ancillary data, as implemented in commit |

af_packet: avoid erroring out after sock_init_data() in packet_create()
After sock_init_data() the allocated sk object is attached to the provided sock object. On error, packet_create() frees the sk object leaving the dangling pointer in the sock object on return. Some other code may try to use this pointer and cause use-after-free. af_packet: allow fanout_add when socket is not RUNNING
PACKET socket can retain its fanout membership through link down and up and leave a fanout while closed regardless of link state. However, socket was forbidden from joining a fanout while it was not RUNNING. This patch allows PACKET socket to join fanout while not RUNNING. Socket can be RUNNING if it has a specified protocol. Either directly from packet_create (being implicitly bound to any interface) or following a successful bind. Socket RUNNING state is switched off if it is bound to an interface that went down. Instead of the test for RUNNING, this patch adds a test that socket can become RUNNING. net_tstamp: add SCM_TS_OPT_ID for RAW sockets
The last type of sockets which supports SOF_TIMESTAMPING_OPT_ID is RAW sockets. To add new option this patch converts all callers (direct and indirect) of _sock_tx_timestamp to provide sockcm_cookie instead of tsflags. And while here fix __sock_tx_timestamp to receive tsflags as __u32 instead of __u16. net: add support for skbs with unreadable frags
For device memory TCP, we expect the skb headers to be available in host memory for access, and we expect the skb frags to be in device memory and unaccessible to the host. We expect there to be no mixing and matching of device memory frags (unaccessible) with host memory frags (accessible) in the same skb. Add a skb->devmem flag which indicates whether the frags in this skb are device memory frags or not. __skb_fill_netmem_desc() now checks frags added to skbs for net_iov, and marks the skb as skb->devmem accordingly. Add checks through the network stack to avoid accessing the frags of devmem skbs and avoid coalescing devmem skbs with non devmem skbs. af_packet: Handle outgoing VLAN packets without hardware offloading
The issue initially stems from libpcap. The ethertype will be overwritten
as the VLAN TPID if the network interface lacks hardware VLAN offloading.
In the outbound packet path, if hardware VLAN offloading is unavailable,
the VLAN tag is inserted into the payload but then cleared from the sk_buff
struct. Consequently, this can lead to a false negative when checking for
the presence of a VLAN tag, causing the packet sniffing outcome to lack
VLAN tag information (i.e., TCI-TPID). As a result, the packet capturing
tool may be unable to parse packets as expected.
The TCI-TPID is missing because the prb_fill_vlan_info() function does not
modify the tp_vlan_tci/tp_vlan_tpid values, as the information is in the
payload and not in the sk_buff struct. The skb_vlan_tag_present() function
only checks vlan_all in the sk_buff struct. In cooked mode, the L2 header
is stripped, preventing the packet capturing tool from determining the
correct TCI-TPID value. Additionally, the protocol in SLL is incorrect,
which means the packet capturing tool cannot parse the L3 header correctly.
