Pull probes updates from Masami Hiramatsu:
 "BTF typecasting and variable fetch enhancements:

   - Typecast support across probe events: Extended BTF typecasting
     syntax (e.g., (STRUCT)PARAM->MEMBER) to kprobes, uprobes, and
     fprobes on function entry and return

   - Nested typecasts: Added support for chaining and nesting typecasts
     up to 3 levels, including casting registers and stack variables

   - Field specifier option: Added (STRUCT,FIELD) syntax to emulate
     container_of(), allowing retrieval of parent structures from member
     pointers

   - $current variable support: Introduced $current special variable to
     access the running task_struct via BTF dereferencing

   - Per-CPU variable access: Added this_cpu_read() and this_cpu_ptr()
     fetcharg methods to trace CPU-local data safely

   - Fetcharg bytecode dumper: Added CONFIG_PROBE_EVENTS_DUMP_FETCHARG
     to dump the compiled fetcharg bytecode instructions as comments in
     dynamic_events

   - Extended symbol name handling: Removed the MAX_COMMON_HEAD_LEN
     limit and extended MAX_ARGSTR_LEN to 256 bytes, enabling probing of
     long symbols, mangled Rust symbols and complex BTF expressions

   - eprobe variable syntax: Allowed eprobes to reference event fields
     directly without requiring a '$' prefix

   - Cleanup unused parameters, redundant codes, duplicate macros and
     pointer arithmetic

   - Use a ternary operator for simplifying fetch_type_from_btf_type()

  Expanded boot time dynamic probe support:

   - Add boot-time tracing configuration support for event probes
     (eprobes), function probes (fprobes), and tracepoint probes
     (tprobes)

   - Allow comment lines ('#') in dynamic_events file

  Optimization, robustness, and cleanups:

   - Simplify fprobe_remove_ips() by reusing graph and ftrace helpers

   - Remove __packed attribute from struct __fprobe_header to avoid
     unaligned memory access penalties on RISC architectures

   - Remove redundant memset() calls in perf event probe handlers

   - Replace legacy __ASSEMBLY__ with __ASSEMBLER__ in header files

  Selftests & refactoring:

   - Refactor parse_probe_arg() and parse_probe_vars(), and eliminate
     recursion in probe argument parsing to protect kernel stack depth

   - Add selftests for BTF typecasts and module probing without module
     prefixes

   - Force LC_ALL=C in ftracetest to prevent test failures on localized
     systems

   - Refactor btf_type_skip_modifiers() to remove ignored id parameter

   - Sort ERRORS list in trace_probe.h alphabetically

   - Fix typo in fprobe docs, and trace_fprobe function name

   - Rename FETCH_OP_DATA to FETCH_OP_IMMSTR

   - Make file offset error message probe-agnostic"

Raushan Patel aca0cd1bf1 tracing/fprobe: Roll back on enable_trace_fprobe() failure
enable_trace_fprobe() sets the file link or the TP_FLAG_PROFILE flag and
then registers each trace_fprobe in the probe list. If
__register_trace_fprobe() fails partway through, the function returns
immediately without unregistering the trace_fprobes it already registered
or undoing the file link / flag it set, leaving the event half-enabled and
leaking the registered fprobe(s).

enable_trace_kprobe() already handles this with a rollback path. Do the
same for fprobe: on failure, unregister all probes and clear the file link
or profile flag.

Masami Hiramatsu (Google) 3d785646cc tracing/fprobe: Remove redundant memset in fentry_perf_func()
fentry_perf_func() calls memset(&entry[1], 0, dsize) prior to calling
store_trace_args(). store_trace_args() populates the entry buffer and
handles dynamic data fields.

Furthermore, passing dsize (the dynamic data byte length) to memset at
&entry[1] (the start of fixed trace arguments) is inaccurate as it zeroes
from the fixed args area rather than the dynamic data region.

Remove this redundant memset call to align with fexit_perf_func() and other
probe perf functions.

Masami Hiramatsu (Google) 36db65d0e5 tracing/fprobe: Remove redundant snprintf in trace_fprobe_match_command_head()
trace_fprobe_match_command_head() copies trace_fprobe_symbol(tf) into a
local buffer 'buf' of size MAX_COMMON_HEAD_LEN + 1 using snprintf before
comparing with argv[0].

Since trace_fprobe_symbol(tf) already returns a null-terminated string,
comparing it directly with argv[0] via strcmp() avoids stack buffer usage
and potential symbol truncation at MAX_COMMON_HEAD_LEN.

Masami Hiramatsu 47e4ec6871 tracing/probes: Extend max length of argument string
To support BTF argument parsing (such as accessing fields within nested
structures via typecasting), the maximum argument string length needs
to be extended. Extend MAX_ARGSTR_LEN from 63 to 255.

Since MAX_ARGSTR_LEN was previously reused to format command heads in
trace_*probe_match_command_head() functions, introduce a dedicated
MAX_COMMON_HEAD_LEN (63) macro for matching command heads and switch
these functions to use the new macro.

Masami Hiramatsu (Google) dccddc39aa tracing/probes: Support dumping fetcharg program for debugging dynamic events
For debugging probe events, it is helpful to verify the compiled
fetch instructions for each probe argument. This introduces a new
kernel config CONFIG_PROBE_EVENTS_DUMP_FETCHARG to decode the
instruction sequence of each argument and display it under a
commented line starting with '#' immediately following the dynamic
event definition (such as in dynamic_events, kprobe_events,
uprobe_events, etc.).

For example:
 /sys/kernel/tracing # cat dynamic_events
 p:kprobes/p_vfs_read_0 vfs_read arg1=+0(file):ustring arg2=%ax:x16
 #  arg1: ARG(0) -> ST_USTRING(offset=0,size=4) -> END
 #  arg2: REG(80) -> ST_RAW(size=2) -> END

Linus Torvalds 323bbfcf1e Convert 'alloc_flex' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argument
This is the exact same thing as the 'alloc_obj()' version, only much
smaller because there are a lot fewer users of the *alloc_flex()
interface.

As with alloc_obj() version, this was done entirely with mindless brute
force, using the same script, except using 'flex' in the pattern rather
than 'objs*'.

Linus Torvalds bf4afc53b7 Convert 'alloc_obj' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argument
This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using

    git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
        xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'

to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.

Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.

For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

Kees Cook 69050f8d6d treewide: Replace kmalloc with kmalloc_obj for non-scalar types
This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:

Single allocations:	kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)

Array allocations:	kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)

Flex array allocations:	kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)

(where TYPE may also be *VAR)

The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

Linus Torvalds 69c5079b49 Merge tag 'trace-v6.19' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/trace/linux-trace
Pull tracing updates from Steven Rostedt:

 - Extend tracing option mask to 64 bits

   The trace options were defined by a 32 bit variable. This limits the
   tracing instances to have a total of 32 different options. As that
   limit has been hit, and more options are being added, increase the
   option mask to a 64 bit number, doubling the number of options
   available.

   As this is required for the kprobe topic branches as well as the
   tracing topic branch, a separate branch was created and merged into
   both.

 - Make trace_user_fault_read() available for the rest of tracing

   The function trace_user_fault_read() is used by trace_marker file
   read to allow reading user space to be done fast and without locking
   or allocations. Make this available so that the system call trace
   events can use it too.

 - Have system call trace events read user space values

   Now that the system call trace events callbacks are called in a
   faultable context, take advantage of this and read the user space
   buffers for various system calls. For example, show the path name of
   the openat system call instead of just showing the pointer to that
   path name in user space. Also show the contents of the buffer of the
   write system call. Several system call trace events are updated to
   make tracing into a light weight strace tool for all applications in
   the system.

 - Update perf system call tracing to do the same

 - And a config and syscall_user_buf_size file to control the size of
   the buffer

   Limit the amount of data that can be read from user space. The
   default size is 63 bytes but that can be expanded to 165 bytes.

 - Allow the persistent ring buffer to print system calls normally

   The persistent ring buffer prints trace events by their type and
   ignores the print_fmt. This is because the print_fmt may change from
   kernel to kernel. As the system call output is fixed by the system
   call ABI itself, there's no reason to limit that. This makes reading
   the system call events in the persistent ring buffer much nicer and
   easier to understand.

 - Add options to show text offset to function profiler

   The function profiler that counts the number of times a function is
   hit currently lists all functions by its name and offset. But this
   becomes ambiguous when there are several functions with the same
   name.

   Add a tracing option that changes the output to be that of
   '_text+offset' instead. Now a user space tool can use this
   information to map the '_text+offset' to the unique function it is
   counting.

 - Report bad dynamic event command

   If a bad command is passed to the dynamic_events file, report it
   properly in the error log.

 - Clean up tracer options

   Clean up the tracer option code a bit, by removing some useless code
   and also using switch statements instead of a series of if
   statements.

 - Have tracing options be instance specific

   Tracers can have their own options (function tracer, irqsoff tracer,
   function graph tracer, etc). But now that the same tracer can be
   enabled in multiple trace instances, their options are still global.
   The API is per instance, thus changing one affects other instances.
   This isn't even consistent, as the option take affect differently
   depending on when an tracer started in an instance. Make the options
   for instances only affect the instance it is changed under.

 - Optimize pid_list lock contention

   Whenever the pid_list is read, it uses a spin lock. This happens at
   every sched switch. Taking the lock at sched switch can be removed by
   instead using a seqlock counter.

 - Clean up the trace trigger structures

   The trigger code uses two different structures to implement a single
   tigger. This was due to trying to reuse code for the two different
   types of triggers (always on trigger, and count limited trigger). But
   by adding a single field to one structure, the other structure could
   be absorbed into the first structure making he code easier to
   understand.

 - Create a bulk garbage collector for trace triggers

   If user space has triggers for several hundreds of events and then
   removes them, it can take several seconds to complete. This is
   because each removal calls tracepoint_synchronize_unregister() that
   can take hundreds of milliseconds to complete.

   Instead, create a helper thread that will do the clean up. When a
   trigger is removed, it will create the kthread if it isn't already
   created, and then add the trigger to a llist. The kthread will take
   the items off the llist, call tracepoint_synchronize_unregister(),
   and then remove the items it took off. It will then check if there's
   more items to free before sleeping.

   This makes user space removing all these triggers to finish in less
   than a second.

 - Allow function tracing of some of the tracing infrastructure code

   Because the tracing code can cause recursion issues if it is traced
   by the function tracer the entire tracing directory disables function
   tracing. But not all of tracing causes issues if it is traced.
   Namely, the event tracing code. Add a config that enables some of the
   tracing code to be traced to help in debugging it. Note, when this is
   enabled, it does add noise to general function tracing, especially if
   events are enabled as well (which is a common case).

 - Add boot-time backup instance for persistent buffer

   The persistent ring buffer is used mostly for kernel crash analysis
   in the field. One issue is that if there's a crash, the data in the
   persistent ring buffer must be read before tracing can begin using
   it. This slows down the boot process. Once tracing starts in the
   persistent ring buffer, the old data must be freed and the addresses
   no longer match and old events can't be in the buffer with new
   events.

   Create a way to create a backup buffer that copies the persistent
   ring buffer at boot up. Then after a crash, the always on tracer can
   begin immediately as well as the normal boot process while the crash
   analysis tooling uses the backup buffer. After the backup buffer is
   finished being read, it can be removed.

 - Enable function graph args and return address options at the same
   time

   Currently the when reading of arguments in the function graph tracer
   is enabled, the option to record the parent function in the entry
   event can not be enabled. Update the code so that it can.

 - Add new struct_offset() helper macro

   Add a new macro that takes a pointer to a structure and a name of one
   of its members and it will return the offset of that member. This
   allows the ring buffer code to simplify the following:

   From:  size = struct_size(entry, buf, cnt - sizeof(entry->id));
     To:  size = struct_offset(entry, id) + cnt;

   There should be other simplifications that this macro can help out
   with as well

Masami Hiramatsu (Google) c91afa7610 tracing: tprobe-events: Fix to put tracepoint_user when disable the tprobe
__unregister_trace_fprobe() checks tf->tuser to put it when removing

If the trace_fprobe has tuser, put it for unregistering the tracepoint

Initializing tuser->tpoint correctly before tracepoint_user_register()
so that it sets up tracepoint callback.

Race Condition Analysis:

The race occurs between kprobe activation and perf_events initialization:

  CPU0                                    CPU1
  ====                                    ====
  perf_kprobe_init
    perf_trace_event_init
      tp_event->perf_events = list;(1)
      tp_event->class->reg (2)← KPROBE ACTIVE
                                          Debug exception triggers
                                          ...
                                          kprobe_dispatcher
                                            kprobe_perf_func (tk->tp.flags & TP_FLAG_PROFILE)
                                              head = this_cpu_ptr(call->perf_events)(3)
                                              (perf_events is still NULL)

Problem:
1. CPU0 executes (1) assigning tp_event->perf_events = list
2. CPU0 executes (2) enabling kprobe functionality via class->reg()
3. CPU1 triggers and reaches kprobe_dispatcher
4. CPU1 checks TP_FLAG_PROFILE - condition passes (step 2 completed)
5. CPU1 calls kprobe_perf_func() and crashes at (3) because
   call->perf_events is still NULL

CPU1 sees that kprobe functionality is enabled but does not see that
perf_events has been assigned.

Add pairing read and write memory barriers to guarantee that if CPU1
sees that kprobe functionality is enabled, it must also see that
perf_events has been assigned.

Linus Torvalds bec7dcbc24 Merge tag 'probes-fixes-v6.14' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/trace/linux-trace
Pull probes fixes from Masami Hiramatsu:

 - fprobe: remove fprobe_hlist_node when module unloading

   When a fprobe target module is removed, the fprobe_hlist_node should
   be removed from the fprobe's hash table to prevent reusing
   accidentally if another module is loaded at the same address.

 - fprobe: lock module while registering fprobe

   The module containing the function to be probeed is locked using a
   reference counter until the fprobe registration is complete, which
   prevents use after free.

 - fprobe-events: fix possible UAF on modules

   Basically as same as above, but in the fprobe-events layer we also
   need to get module reference counter when we find the tracepoint in
   the module.

Masami Hiramatsu (Google) dd941507a9 tracing: fprobe events: Fix possible UAF on modules
Commit ac91052f0a ("tracing: tprobe-events: Fix leakage of module
refcount") moved try_module_get() from __find_tracepoint_module_cb()
to find_tracepoint() caller, but that introduced a possible UAF
because the module can be unloaded before try_module_get(). In this
case, the module object should be freed too. Thus, try_module_get()
does not only fail but may access to the freed object.

To avoid that, try_module_get() in __find_tracepoint_module_cb()
again.

When enabling the tracepoint at loading module, the target module
refcount is incremented by find_tracepoint_in_module(). But it is
unnecessary because the module is not unloaded while processing
module loading callbacks.
Moreover, the refcount is not decremented in that function.
To be clear the module refcount handling, move the try_module_get()
callsite to trace_fprobe_create_internal(), where it is actually
required.

Masami Hiramatsu (Google) 0a8bb688aa tracing: tprobe-events: Fix to clean up tprobe correctly when module unload
When unloading module, the tprobe events are not correctly cleaned
up. Thus it becomes `fprobe-event` and never be enabled again even
if loading the same module again.

For example;

 # cd /sys/kernel/tracing
 # modprobe trace_events_sample
 # echo 't:my_tprobe foo_bar' >> dynamic_events
 # cat dynamic_events
t:tracepoints/my_tprobe foo_bar
 # rmmod trace_events_sample
 # cat dynamic_events
f:tracepoints/my_tprobe foo_bar

As you can see, the second time my_tprobe starts with 'f' instead
of 't'.

This unregisters the fprobe and tracepoint callback when module is
unloaded but marks the fprobe-event is tprobe-event.

Ye Bin d9b15224dd tracing/probes: support '%pd' type for print struct dentry's name
During fault locating, the file name needs to be printed based on the
dentry address. The offset needs to be calculated each time, which
is troublesome. Similar to printk, kprobe support print type '%pd' for
print dentry's name. For example "name=$arg1:%pd" casts the `$arg1`
as (struct dentry *), dereferences the "d_name.name" field and stores
it to "name" argument as a kernel string.
Here is an example:
[tracing]# echo 'p:testprobe dput name=$arg1:%pd' > kprobe_events
[tracing]# echo 1 > events/kprobes/testprobe/enable
[tracing]# grep -q "1" events/kprobes/testprobe/enable
[tracing]# echo 0 > events/kprobes/testprobe/enable
[tracing]# cat trace | grep "enable"
	    bash-14844   [002] ..... 16912.889543: testprobe: (dput+0x4/0x30) name="enable"
            grep-15389   [003] ..... 16922.834182: testprobe: (dput+0x4/0x30) name="enable"
            grep-15389   [003] ..... 16922.836103: testprobe: (dput+0x4/0x30) name="enable"
            bash-14844   [001] ..... 16931.820909: testprobe: (dput+0x4/0x30) name="enable"

Note that this expects the given argument (e.g. $arg1) is an address of struct
dentry. User must ensure it.

Masami Hiramatsu (Google) 25f00e40ce tracing/probes: Support $argN in return probe (kprobe and fprobe)
Support accessing $argN in the return probe events. This will help users to
record entry data in function return (exit) event for simplfing the function
entry/exit information in one event, and record the result values (e.g.
allocated object/initialized object) at function exit.

For example, if we have a function `int init_foo(struct foo *obj, int param)`
sometimes we want to check how `obj` is initialized. In such case, we can
define a new return event like below;

 # echo 'r init_foo retval=$retval param=$arg2 field1=+0($arg1)' >> kprobe_events

Thus it records the function parameter `param` and its result `obj->field1`
(the dereference will be done in the function exit timing) value at once.

This also support fprobe, BTF args and'$arg*'. So if CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO_BTF
is enabled, we can trace both function parameters and the return value
by following command.

 # echo 'f target_function%return $arg* $retval' >> dynamic_events

of trace_probe arguments while parsing it.
This is a cleanup, so the behavior is not changed.

Masami Hiramatsu (Google) ce51e6153f tracing: fprobe-event: Fix to check tracepoint event and return
Fix to check the tracepoint event is not valid with $retval.
The commit 08c9306fc2 ("tracing/fprobe-event: Assume fprobe is
a return event by $retval") introduced automatic return probe
conversion with $retval. But since tracepoint event does not
support return probe, $retval is not acceptable.

Without this fix, ftracetest, tprobe_syntax_errors.tc fails;

[22] Tracepoint probe event parser error log check [FAIL]
 ----
 # tail 22-tprobe_syntax_errors.tc-log.mRKroL
 + ftrace_errlog_check trace_fprobe t kfree ^$retval dynamic_events

 + pos=8
 + printf %s t kfree ^$retval
 + tr -d ^
 + command=t kfree $retval
 + echo Test command: t kfree $retval
 Test command: t kfree $retval
 + echo
 ----

So 't kfree $retval' should fail (tracepoint doesn't support
return probe) but passed it.

Masami Hiramatsu (Google) b1d1e90490 tracing/probes: Support BTF argument on module functions
Since the btf returned from bpf_get_btf_vmlinux() only covers functions in
the vmlinux, BTF argument is not available on the functions in the modules.
Use bpf_find_btf_id() instead of bpf_get_btf_vmlinux()+btf_find_name_kind()
so that BTF argument can find the correct struct btf and btf_type in it.
With this fix, fprobe events can use `$arg*` on module functions as below

 # grep nf_log_ip_packet /proc/kallsyms
ffffffffa0005c00 t nf_log_ip_packet	[nf_log_syslog]
ffffffffa0005bf0 t __pfx_nf_log_ip_packet	[nf_log_syslog]
 # echo 'f nf_log_ip_packet $arg*' > dynamic_events
 # cat dynamic_events
f:fprobes/nf_log_ip_packet__entry nf_log_ip_packet net=net pf=pf hooknum=hooknum skb=skb in=in out=out loginfo=loginfo prefix=prefix

To support the module's btf which is removable, the struct btf needs to be
ref-counted. So this also records the btf in the traceprobe_parse_context
and returns the refcount when the parse has done.

Masami Hiramatsu (Google) 18b1e870a4 tracing/probes: Add $arg* meta argument for all function args
Add the '$arg*' meta fetch argument for function-entry probe events. This
will be expanded to the all arguments of the function and the tracepoint
using BTF function argument information.

e.g.
 #  echo 'p vfs_read $arg*' >> dynamic_events
 #  echo 'f vfs_write $arg*' >> dynamic_events
 #  echo 't sched_overutilized_tp $arg*' >> dynamic_events
 # cat dynamic_events
p:kprobes/p_vfs_read_0 vfs_read file=file buf=buf count=count pos=pos
f:fprobes/vfs_write__entry vfs_write file=file buf=buf count=count pos=pos
t:tracepoints/sched_overutilized_tp sched_overutilized_tp rd=rd overutilized=overutilized

Also, single '$arg[0-9]*' will be converted to the BTF function argument.

NOTE: This seems like a wildcard, but a fake one at this moment. This
is just for telling user that this can be expanded to several arguments.
And it is not like other $-vars, you can not use this $arg* as a part of
fetch args, e.g. specifying name "foo=$arg*" and using it in dereferences
"+0($arg*)" will lead a parse error.

Support function or tracepoint parameters by name if BTF support is enabled

Masami Hiramatsu (Google) e2d0d7b2f4 tracing/probes: Add tracepoint support on fprobe_events
Allow fprobe_events to trace raw tracepoints so that user can trace
tracepoints which don't have traceevent wrappers. This new event is
always available if the fprobe_events is enabled (thus no kconfig),
because the fprobe_events depends on the trace-event and traceporint.

e.g.
 # echo 't sched_overutilized_tp' >> dynamic_events
 # echo 't 9p_client_req' >> dynamic_events
 # cat dynamic_events
t:tracepoints/sched_overutilized_tp sched_overutilized_tp
t:tracepoints/_9p_client_req 9p_client_req

The event name is based on the tracepoint name, but if it is started
with digit character, an underscore '_' will be added.

NOTE: to avoid further confusion, this renames TPARG_FL_TPOINT to
TPARG_FL_TEVENT because this flag is used for eprobe (trace-event probe).
And reuse TPARG_FL_TPOINT for this raw tracepoint probe.
